Conversation Metadata API Features for Marketing Use Cases

Some use cases like marketing require unique features to support its goals. For example, some customer use cases require the ability to create threaded text conversations that result from mass outbounding on A2P 10DLC. 

That's why Telgorithm offers a Conversation Metadata APIs that allows you to directly correlate or match outbound messages to corresponding inbound responses from an end user. 

Why is the Metadata API important? 

Conversation Metadata allows developers to store metadata related to conversations, which is any text with a length of 2048 characters or less. This helps applications gain deeper insights into the conversation flow, enabling personalized responses, analysis of user behavior, and triggering specific actions based on context.

This feature is very valuable for multiple use cases including creating threaded text conversations that result from mass outbounding or tracking certain unique promotions by end users.

Certain software providers require very unique API endpoints and features to support their infrastructure and various use cases. Without these features embedded into their messaging API provider services, many software teams would need to allocate resources to build and maintain features like this themselves. 

Finding a provider that offers these features at no additional cost saves software teams massively in time and internal resource allocation so they can focus on other sides of their business. 

Not all messaging API providers offer this Conversation Metadata feature, so it’s important to ask ahead of time. 

How does the Metadata API work? 

The Telgorithm Metadata feature works by supporting storing custom data with messages, known as Conversation Metadata. A conversation is identified by a pair of phone numbers, one of which is owned by the customer’s company. 

To set custom data, your team simply needs to use the conversationMetadata property in the Send Outbound Message request. Once set, the data will automatically be assigned to that message and future messages within this conversation. 

Conversation metadata is automatically provided in Inbound or Outbound Message webhooks. It also can be retrieved via pulling a list of Inbound / Outbound messages in the Telgorithm API by specifying the "IncludeConversationMetadata" flag.

This allows you to correlate a specific message sent with future conversations.
